But it does fit some other Specials-
XS850 Special, XS650 Special,  etc...
Holes are 46mm apart center to center - 1  13/16"

These petcocks are
non-vacuum, manual type
,
designed to replace 1978-84 vacuum type.
Also fits SR500- All 1978-84 North American market.
Fits most XS400 models,
but may have clearance issues on some "SPECIAL" XS400 tanks

a customer reported difficulty moving the knob to "reserve"
due to the lip of the tank on his 1980 XS400 Special
- see this tiny photo- (sorry about the pic...)
-Anyway, if this happens to you,
take a dremel or small grinder and clearance the petcock lever,
or as a last resort, up to 2mm of the tank seam.
(obviously don't go too far up into the seam,
or you will hit the weld point.)
'78 and up XS Standards have original petcocks operated
by vacuum from a line to the intake (on carb holder).
On XS650's 1978-79 models have 2
and 1980-84 models have 1 petcock.
We get rid of the vacuum line, and plug the bung on the Intake boot,
~ just like the factory does on the other unused intake boot vacuum ports.
I buy the blind vacuum plugs from Yamaha.
Being a non-vacuum petcock means~
you gotta remember to turn off the gas when you park it, people
!
Vacuum petcocks are major leakers, and are getting to the point of being non-repairable.
The pot metal/aluminum corrodes on the inside, causing sealing problems, and eventually the diaphragm
ALWAYS
eventually
fails
.....
When the diaphram fails, you wind up with a tank of gas in your crankcase.
Which pretty much sucks...
After having spent each on rebuild kits, only to have my old petcocks still leak,
I don't bother any more. ....Takes too much time on a gamble that may, or may not work.
I would rather just put new ones on there, and be done with it!....     lol :-)
This Petcock fits to right or left sides
,
and each comes with the tap to tank O-Ring seal,
and assorted outlet fittings (petcock has 2 outlet ports).
Fittings included: 2 ninety degree, 1 Straight fitting & 1 outlet port Plug.
There is an "ON", "OFF" and "Reserve" position.
remember to turn it OFF

as you can see on the listing, for shipping it gives you the price for shipping one unit, and also a lower price for the second unit.
The shipping price depends on the service that you use.
As always it is best to measure, check the spacing of the mount holes on your tank and see if they match up with this petcock
which as stated, is 46mm
