Klemm Dresden Hand Painted Watteau Scene Turquoise & Gold Chocolate Pot C. 1900
Fabulous turn of the century fancy relief molded porcelain chocolate pot. Decorated with hand painted Tudor or Renaissance era courting couples on either side, framed by fancy gold gilt scrollwork. With bands of turquoise with gold gilt net overlay and gold gilt flower designs, bands of gold gilt floral scrollwork and bands of gold gilt rings. With gold gilding to the spout, handle, rim, around the base, and to the finial of the lid. The lid is decorated in turquoise with gold gilt net and floral designs. It has a hand painted lady in a purple and yellow gown on one side framed in gold gilt scrollwork and a gentleman in orange on the other side. Marked on the base RK Dresden Germany in blue. This mark was used by Richard Klemm in Dresden Germany between 1891 and 1914.
Has some wear to the gilding, but otherwise excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Measures approximately 8 inches wide from spout to handle x 8 5/8 inches tall to the top of the lid finial.
